Student Equity
In order to promote student success for all students, regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or economic circumstances, the governing board of each community college district shall maintain a student equity plan.
The District has a student equity plan. The plan is filed as required to the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, following approval by the Board.
The Student Equity Plan shall be developed, maintained, and updated under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Student Services.
The intent of the Student Equity Plan is to guide the district’s work in closing the achievement gap for disproportionately impacted (DI) student groups as defined by Education Code.
The plan addresses:
- the active involvement of designated participatory governance groups;
- broad participation by people who can provide the perspectives and concerns of historically underrepresented groups.
- campus-based research as to the extent of student equity;
- institutional barriers to equity;
- goals addressing student success outcomes required by state regulations and the California Community College Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO);
- activities designed to attain the goals;
- sources of funding for implementation of the plan;
- schedule and process of evaluation of progress toward the goals;
- and other components required by state regulations and the CCCCO regarding Student Equity Plan.
